Certification for dance teachers – officially available now
Certification for theatre arts teachers – avail. in draft for now so you can start working towards it – will be official in Fall 2003
Brockport and Buffalo State are the only two schools offering this
RJ will make requirements available when he gets them

Head’s Up! (Safe Schools Legislation)

Appears that artist hired through AIE will have to be fingerprinted and background checked
Won’t know details until after Superintendent’s meeting with Commissioner Mills
If they are paid through a separate organization, they will not need to be fingerprinted
RJ will send out a letter to all artists that we’ve paid over the last two years
The artist will have to select a BOCES to be their point of contact
Paperwork to artist will include – Have you been cleared? Yes – we’ll get paperwork from point of contact. No – the artist has to come here and get fingerprinted
There is a $75 fee at our BOCES to have prints done
Can take up to six weeks to get cleared
Point of contact will receive any updates on criminal records
Coordinators expressed interest in list of artists that will be contacted

Ripples 2000-2001

$650 per year
Unlimited submissions (K-12)
Up to four students on a selection committee
This year a panel of teachers will select Visual Art submissions
Artwork featured at a public display which is open from Sept through the holidays
RJ is working on a Staff Dev opportunity for Art teachers (Ripples Members) to help elementary art teachers get student work published (primary pieces have been tough to reproduce)
